Tall ships sail into town for Ships to Shore Steveston 2011
Relive the days of yore when four tall ships arrive here for Ships to Shore Steveston 2011 (Jun. 3 to 7), five days of mock gun battles, concerts, tours, films—something for everyone, from sailors to landlubbers. Making the biggest splash are Hawaiian Chieftain, a 31-m (103-ft) square topsail ketch, and Lady Washington, a 34-m (112-ft) brig replica of an 18th-century merchant sloop. And even if you don’t recognize Lady Washington from appearances in Hollywood fare such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, you won’t have to walk the plank.—Sheri Radford
