Amateur ornithologists enjoy guessing the identities of songbird feathers used in Courtship Colour Studies at the Firehall Arts Centre Gallery (to Oct. 15). Artist Catherine M. Stewart, who is interested in avian courtship rituals, combined male and female bird plumes to make digitally manipulated inkjet abstracts (“Lazuli Bunting,” pictured) that highlight the colour differences between the sexes.
