Some of the best al fresco dining spots are also well concealed. At Yaletown’s Brix, the 1912 courtyard now serves as a romantic patio, with a glass ceiling in case of showers. Inventive plates range from an Asian ahi tuna duo to a chicken breast stuffed with raspberry, mascarpone and brioche. And the late-night menu is a rare find. “Brix” is the measurement used to calibrate ripeness of grapes prior to harvest: no surprise, the wine selections are broad.
