Each year, choosing Canada’s Best New Restaurants is one of the most difficult tasks we editors across Where are entrusted with. But it’s an assignment we take seriously and this year, the Italian-influenced Teca at The Rosseau Red Leaves—A JW Marriott Resort was selected as our pick in the Muskoka region.
On Friday, January 29, Susan Benson, Associate Publisher of Where Muskoka and I had the pleasure of presenting the award to the resort’s general manager, Tony Tamburro, at a special dinner that included MP Tony Clement and journalists from around the world.
We spoke with Mike Fry, host of Moose FM’s morning show and the station’s music and programming director about how we go about making our choice and why Teca is so deserving of this special distinction.

Afterwards, we were all treated to a sumptuous feast prepared by Chef Mark Marchment and his staff that included pan-fried halibut with basil peperonata, agnolotti, flat bread pizza, spaghetti and meatballs—made from the family recipe of Tony Tamburro—each dish further confirmation of Teca’s true superiority.
