This full-day Icefields Helicopter Tours accesses a remote wilderness traversed by Mary Schäffer, arguably the first ‘tourist’ to travel from Banff to Jasper, 100 years ago. After a thrilling ride above Cline River Canyon, the helicopter sets down beside Waterfall Creek. Participants snowshoe or cross-country ski gentle, wildlife-rich terrain along the Cline River. Steep-walled peaks include soaring Minister Mountain. Personable ACMG guide and biologist Martha McCallum (who also instructs yoga) leads the foray. Snowshoe use and gourmet picnic lunch are included, and shuttle from Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper along the spectacular Icefields Parkway is available. — Jack Newton
