Top Spots to Propose in Vancouver

By Sheri Radford

With Valentine’s Day almost here, and spring approaching soon after, “a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love.” What better time to pop the question? Here are some of our favourite places for the big proposal.

  1. Near the giant “Engagement” rings created by American artist Dennis Oppenheim, situated on English Bay (pictured).
  2. At the top of one of our local mountains, while looking out over a panorama of the city.
  3. In the middle of the Capilano Suspension Bridge, 70 m (230 ft) above the Capilano River. Your sweetie’s heart will definitely start racing!
  4. In an elegant restaurant such as Hawksworth, Blue Water Cafe or Le Crocodile.
  5. Anywhere along the seawall at sunset.

Eye-catching bling from Frey Wille

Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt, Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Alphonse Mucha. What do these four artists all have in common? Besides being world-renowned painters and architects, they are the inspiration behind lines of jewellery by Frey Wille. The Austrian company launched the Nixe collection (including bangle, pictured) to pay homage to Klimt’s famous work “Nixen.” Eye-catching brooches, rings, necklaces and bangles are made using a mix of gold, platinum and enamel. Vancouver boasts one of just three Frey Wille shops in North America; the others are in Los Angeles and New York.—Jennifer Patterson
