Classically trained chef and restaurateur Corinna Mozo’s Cuban heritage has long influenced her offerings at ostensibly French bistro Delux. With La Cubana, Mozo doubles down on the casual cooking of her ancestral homeland. The bright and airy diner’s Havana-hearkening fare, crafted by chef Leah Marshall-Hannon, runs the gamut from snacks—such as habanero-glazed fried squid and chorizo empanadas—to sandwiches to plates of rice, beans and meat like whitefish with pineapple salsa. Befitting its location on family-friendly Roncesvalles Avenue, the restaurant also boasts a separate kids’ menu, while stiff drinks help to keep older patrons more than satisfied. —Craig Moy
