MARCH 7 TO APRIL 23 You’d be forgiven for being unfamiliar with the work of Marlis Saunders. A Google search for her name, after all, offers scant results. The Design Exchange rectifies that situation with a display entitled Stop, Drop, Repeat, which reveals the German-born Canadian as a pioneering pattern designer of the Bauhaus school. More than 100 colourful works on paper provide insight into Saunders’ technique and influences—including abstraction, Aboriginal imagery, and the plant and animal kingdoms—within the context of one of the 20th century’s major design movements.
