Toronto has seen an invasion of big-name American retailers these past few years, but companies from elsewhere in Canada are also coming to town. A staple of Edmonton’s shoe scene since 1990, Gravitypope is a “mini department store”—as manager Jody Kirk describes—that has garnered fans for its expansive selection of brands and prices for men and women of all ages, including Vans and Converse sneakers, Marni platforms, Paul Smith wingtips and Alexander Wang boots. The 4,000-square-foot Toronto destination also carries clothing and accessories from Comme des Garçons, Cedric Charlier, Rag & Bone and Stephan Schneider. —Linda Luong
