Enjoy Your Night and the Next Morning at Duke’s Refresher

Toronto-Dukes-Refresher-Bar

Once one of downtown Toronto’s bleaker intersections, the northwest corner of Yonge and Gerrard streets has been reinvigorated by a huge condo development that boasts no fewer than four restaurants at its base. The most boisterous of that quartet is Duke’s Refresher, a sizeable tavern with a sizeable menu of burgers, bar bites and beers of both international and Ontario provenance. Notable, too, is its “Shameless Breakfast Club”—a discount of up to 50 per cent off for breakfast, provided you return with a visible stamp from the previous night’s dinner and drinks. The shameless part? The more embarrassing your stamped body part, the greater the discount on your stacked waffles, breakfast poutine, Buffalo chicken hash or boozy brunch milkshake.  —Brock Sutherland
