American Girl Begins Colonizing Toronto

American-Girl-Toronto

The world of American Girl touches down north of the border for its international retail debut. Indigo at Yorkdale Shopping Centre welcomes an 1,800-square-foot shop-in-shop bearing all the hallmarks of the famed toy empire, including books, a selection of dolls, as well as accessories and apparel. Founded in 1986, the original collection of characters reflected the lives of American girls age eight to 11, but has since diversified to represent modern life for kids of different ethnicities. The Canadian boutiques—a second is open in Vancouver—will also have a hair salon, which provides a pampering experience complete with a new hair do and ear piercing for dolls. Delve into this fantasy world with the Girl of the Year, Isabelle, and don’t miss the chance to be twins with your doll by picking up matching outfits.  —Linda Luong
