The husband and wife team of Steve Wallace and Gen Lamorie-Wallace are the brains behind Ottawa’s Burnt Butter Italian Kitchen, a fun restaurant that majors in inventive Italian cuisine. Burnt Butter’s pastas receive a personal touch: they’re hand-rolled (not machined-rolled!) and flavoured in-house. Highlights include the tomato fettuccine with its unique carbonara sauce that uses quail’s egg, bacon, pancetta, and provolone. And if you have a sweet tooth, the Burnt Butter pecan pie is a definite hit. The Italian Kitchen also has a food and wine pairing event on the last Sunday of every month, with a sommelier who introduces each pairing.
