Oyster poor boys, fish and chips, and pickled eggs are some of the sumptuous staples you’ll find at this west end Ottawa tavern. Originally established in 1935 as the Elmdale Tavern, the owners of the celebrated restaurant The Whalesbone took over, rebranding it as The Elmdale Oysterhouse and Tavern. While completely renovated, they’ve gone to great lengths to ensure the familiar, warm atmosphere of the former tavern remains — and they’ve succeeded. The Elmdale’s dim lighting and rustic decor set the tone for that perfect night out with friends, surrounded by great food and a few pints.
