Close Listening at the Ottawa Art Gallery

Close Listening, an exhibit at the Ottawa Art Gallery, brings together the work of four artists who explore the abstract with new materials.

Close Listening, an exhibit at the Ottawa Art Gallery, brings together the work of four artists who explore the abstract with new materials.

Painting — it brings to mind a colour palette of oil or acrylic, a brush, knife, or sponge, and a surface of some kind — paper, canvas, even a wall. But how about the addition of a video component? Sculpture? Or perhaps merging the painting with two- or three-dimensional objects? These are some of the ways in which four Canadian painters are exploring their medium through non-traditional means in Close Listening, an exhibit at the Ottawa Art Gallery. Come see the results! On display until Sept. 21.
