Permanent exhibits deal with the experience of war through the ages, including battles between First Peoples, the French, and the British, the South African War, the First and Second World Wars, the Cold War, peacekeeping missions, and recent conflicts. The designers of this stunning, ecologically friendly building (one of whom is Raymond Moriyama) have won the Governor General's Medal in Architecture.
Special exhibitions: Until Jan. 30: "Legion Halls" consists of 25 images by photographer Tobi Asmoucha, documenting community life across the country and capturing a glimpse of the role Legion Halls play in Canadian communities today. Until March 25: "Missing Lives" tells the story of the 15,000 people who went missing during the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s through the eyes of 15 families. Until April 9: "New Brunswickers in Wartime, 1914-1946" explores the touching and dramatic stories of New Brunswickers during the First and Second World Wars.
