The best known masterpiece at the Art Gallery of Ontario might be Rubens’ Massacre of the Innocents, but there are many other works to see. Paul Kane’s Scene in the Northwest—Portrait of John Henry Lefroy (pictured), for example, is quint-essentially Canadian. Or, seek out the works of modern visionaries, including Gerhard Richter, Michael Snow and Betty Goodwin.
