Joining the little restaurant row in Old Town known as Colborne Street, The Bowery presents an eclectic mix of New York City style and Mediterranean cuisine courtesy of esteemed chef Tawfik Shehata. The restaurant’s name was originally derived from a Dutch word meaning “to farm,” so it’s no surprise that the menu promises seasonal dishes made with fresh ingredients. The kitchen also boasts a five-foot-long charcoal grill that’s perfect for cooking such dishes as a lemon- and thyme-stuff branzino ($34) and 60-day-aged, 24-ounce rib-eye ($40). Night owls take note: a subterranean lounge, Bowery Below, is scheduled to open this month for cocktails and live music.
