Test Rosie Daykin’s playful new recipes in Butter Baked Goods

Anyone who’s set foot in Butter Baked Goods and Cafe is familiar with Rosie Daykin’s exquisite attention to detail, from the pink and pistachio decor to the display of decorated delicacies. Baking enthusiasts expect no less from Daykin’s new cookbook, Butter Baked Goods ($35). Each recipe comes with a sweet anecdote and a mouth-watering photograph. When you’re not learning how to make the perfect pie crust or how to reproduce Butter’s famous marshmallows, you might want to keep this hardcover on the coffee table for show. Feeling a little playful? Try the Kitchen Sink Bars, the Six-Minute Cake recipe from Daykin’s childhood, or the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes. The author, unpretentious and even silly at times, encourages experimentation: “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, for even your mistakes will taste pretty good… Tomorrow is another cake.”
