Hot Dates: Canada Day Restaurants

West Coast fare at Edible Canada at the Market. Photo by KK Law

July 1

It’s the nation’s birthday—a perfect excuse to chow down on Canadian cuisine. Edible Canada at the Market (pictured), a bistro and retail store all rolled into one, focuses on fresh, local, sustainable fare. New this summer for bacon-lovers: the Tribute to Canadian Bacon Take-Out Window, which offers mouth-watering delights such as bacon and duck rillette poutine, to-die-for bacon banana bread with whipped maple butter, and a BLLT: bacon, lettuce, lobster and tomato on a Swiss roll. On Jul. 1, stop by Edible Canada for free popcorn and snow cones, balloon animals for kids, giveaways and food specials that honour the provinces of Canada. Other favourite spots for Canuck fare include The Oakwood Canadian Bistro and The Beaver and Mullet Canadian Bistro. Patriotically delicious!—Sheri Radford
