Tired of mindless Hollywood blockbusters? Find something different at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival (May 2 to 11). From mountain gorillas to young agrarians to roller derby grrrls, the topics are sure to captivate attention and stimulate discussion. Highlights of this year’s fest include Virunga (pictured), about the greed and corruption that threaten Virunga National Park in the Congo; To be Takei, about Star Trek actor, gay-rights activist and Internet sensation George Takei; and A Brony Tale, about male fans of My Little Pony. It’s thought-provoking entertainment at its best.
