Craft breweries are taking the city by storm. Loyal locals line up, growlers in hand, for the freshest of ales at these worthy newcomers.
Powell Street Craft Brewery (pictured) Get there promptly at the 1 p.m. opening if you don’t want to wait too long to try their Old Jalopy Ale, named beer of the year at the Canadian Brewing Awards.
Bridge Brewing Company Serious suds in a very smart package. Look for their nicely hopped but not bitter North Shore Pale Ale as well as a very drinkable Hopilano IPA.
Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers This gleaming new facility boasts tours, a tasting bar and edgy labels. Go for the Quick Wit Wheat Ale or citrusy Wise Crack Lager.
Four Winds Brewing The name salutes the brewery’s various styles, from Czech pilsner to IPA to saison. Look for them in Delta.
