For the solo traveller: When dining alone at a restaurant, if you have the option, go for a counter seat rather than a table on your own. Second best: choose a great spot for people-watching. Bring a book, magazine or a notebook. Or, if it’s a special meal, just concentrate on the food. So often we eat while distracted by TV, a book or another person and barely remember the food—concentrate your meal and really savour it.
