You may not realize when you’re window shopping one of a city’s most fashionable streets that you’re also treading in the footsteps of its first settlers. Many of the most historic neighbourhoods in Canadian cities are now populated by trendy, modern boutiques and restaurants in restored historic buildings.
Whether you’re a history buff interested in nosing around landmarks, old fishing shacks and cobblestone streets or you’re out for a night on the town at a hip urban eatery (or both), these ‘hoods across the country are worth a visit.
