15 Historic Canadian Battle Sites

Re-enactment at Fort George National Historic Site. Photo by Marc Hadley.

Historic Canadian battlegrounds—many with restored or replica forts, barracks and weaponry and colourful re-enactment events—echo cannon and rifle fire from standoffs beginning with 17th-century conflicts with First Nations people, through the Seven Years’ War and the War of 1812, and ending with the late-19th-century North-West Rebellion with the Métis people.

Following are some of the most interesting sites of battles fought on Canadian soil to visit today.
