Every Friday we feature an inspirational travel photo of a Canadian destination taken by one of our readers.
Why we chose it: Tomorrow, the supermoon—when a full moon reaches the closest possible point to Earth—will be visible in the night sky. This image of the 2011 supermoon over Vancouver is almost certainly Photoshopped (at least, we’re 99.9 per cent sure), but it’s still stunning. Even without the giant orb appearing over the skyline, the use of negative space, the reflections on the water and the simplicity of black-and-white make for a complex and sleek image. But the moon definitely adds an element of surprise that gives this image an almost supernatural quality. Get your telescopes ready!
