According to research from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the travel and tourism industry provides more jobs across the globe (and in every region) than any other industry in the world apart from education.
Specifically, travel and tourism employs six times as many people as automotive manufacturing, twice as many as global communications and a third more than global financial services.
Other data revealed that the travel/tourism industry is at least twice the size of the auto manufacturing industry in every part of the world in terms of GDP and in North and South America accounts for three times the GDP of the automotive industry.
Travel and tourism contributes approximately C$2 trillion to the global GDP, on par with the education and communications sectors.
