Hot off the stands, the November 2011 issue of Condé Nast Traveler reveals the magazine’s 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards: a list of the best cities, hotels, resorts, islands, airlines and cruise lines worldwide. Quebec City emerged as readers’ #1 pick for cities in Canada, followed closely by Vancouver and Victoria, with Montreal at fourth place and Toronto trailing Quebec by more than 10 points in fifth. La Vieille Capitale received the sixth highest score worldwide, behind—respectively—Sydney, Florence, Charleston, Cape Town and San Francisco, and was tied with Santa Fe.
Luxury eco-retreat King Pacific Lodge in Rosewood, BC, topped the list of the 20 best resorts in Canada. Voted the cream of the crop of Canada’s 40 highest-ranked hotels was the schmancy Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa in Cambridge, Ontario. Vancouver Island was the best-rated island in the country.
No Canadian airlines made the best airlines in the world list and Canadian cruise lines were not represented in the survey.
This was the first time CN Traveler gave Canada its own section of awards.
The awards were the result of a survey of 28,876 respondents.
