Happy Friday, everyone! With the nice weather forecast and abundance of events taking place throughout the city, your weekend in Edmonton will prove that summer fun isn’t over just yet:

Enjoy some great food in a relaxing setting while exploring the culinary delights at the What the Truck?! Food Truck event on Saturday.

What the Truck?! Saturday September 8 – The weather in Edmonton is supposed to be sunny and warm this weekend, creating the perfect setting to visit Churchill Square and indulge in some tasty foods during the largest What the Truck?! Food Truck event this summer! Plan on spending a warm evening outdoors taking in the lush landscaping and artwork that adorns the square (there’s free wifi available there, too) so that you have plenty of time – and room in your stomach – to sample all the foods available. From full meals like whiskey and pecan grilled pork (yum!) to delicious snacks like mini donuts, this will be quite the foodie extravaganza. The full menu for the event can be found here. Event runs from 5 pm – 9 pm.
Edmonton Gorilla Run Saturday September 8 — Expect to see some rare wildlife charging through the River Valley this weekend! This annual event, hosted by the Running Room, is a fun opportunity for anyone to be active and get outdoors this weekend. Participants will run, walk, or bike 5km through Edmonton’s River Valley while wearing a gorilla suit provided at registration. Why gorillas? All proceeds raised from this event will be donated to Canadian Friends of the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project and the Gorilla Conservation Fund — both charities aid in the preservation of the last remaining mountain gorillas and other wildlife throughout Africa. Runners of any age and skill level are welcome to participate; even on-leash dogs are welcome to tag along. Family-friendly activities, including music, prizes, and lunch, will take place after the race.
Registration can be done online or in person on Saturday. Registration begins at 9 am at Victoria Park (north bank of the North Saskatchewan River, west of the High Level Bridge, and the run starts at 11 am. The run is expected to last until 12:30 pm, at which time the family activities will begin.
Kaleido Arts Festival September 7 – 9 – This free event features an exciting array of music, dance, theatre, film, literature, and visual art. There are so many events scheduled over the weekend that there really is something for everyone to do. Try shopping for one-of-a-kind gifts at the Artisan Village, learning to juggle or yo-yo, listening to live music, or encountering an on-the-spot art performances! You never know what sort of fun entertainment you might come across here! The festival starts Friday at 8 pm along Alberta Ave. (118 Ave.) between 91 and 94 St. For a full listing of events and activities, please visit their website.

Carl White Exhibition Saturday, September 8 – From 2 – 4 pm , enjoy an exciting opportunity to meet artist Carl White during the opening reception for his exhibit at the Agnes Bugera Gallery. White, who lives and works in Calgary, will have a series of paintings on display that combine ancient and contemporary sensations, touted as “[r]ich in iconography and mythological narratives”. White’s collection will be on display until September 21 at the Agnes Bugera Gallery; visit their website for more information.
