You may not recognize the name Jim Treliving, but you will certainly recognize the powerhouse brands behind the name. Treliving is the owner of the Boston Pizza and Mr. Lube franchises, as well as the Central Hockey League. But, he is now most likely to be recognized as one of the five investors (or “dragon’s”) on CBC’s popular reality show Dragon’s Den.
Jim Treliving will be at Indigo South Edmonton (South Common, 1837 99th St.) on Wednesday, September 26 at 7 pm to meet fans, sign his new book, Decisions, and share his business savvy and insight.
Much of Treliving’s success began here in Edmonton, as this is the city where he bought the original Boston Pizza location in 1968. Today Treliving still owns and manages the Boston Pizza franchise which, with over $1 billion in annual sales, can be considered to be Canada’s top casual dining chain. Over 22 Boston Pizza restaurants are now located in Edmonton alone!
Treliving’s friendly no-nonse personality makes him one of the most well-liked judges on the Dragon’s Den series, and fans of the show will delight in hearing from the business mogul first-hand. However, anyone interested in gaining insight on balancing work and pleasure will benefit from Treliving’s talk.
