Hot Dining: 

The Underground Tap and Grill is one of Edmonton’s newest venues that is definitely worth spending some time at this weekend. With 72 beers on tap, and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, this is the perfect place to go whether you’re just wanting a quick pint or a spot to settle for the night and socialize with friends. Hot Art: 

The Automatiste Revolution: Talk & Performance (Oct 13, 2 pm)The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is hosting an exclusive event featuring a discussion with Canadian artist Françoise Sullivan, an original member of the Automatisesand a performance by dancer Ginette Boutin. Sullivan will discuss her career as a dancer, choreographer, painter, sculptor, and photographer, then Boutin will perform four of Sullivan’s choreographed pieces. Tickets are required, and can be purchased online; $40 General Admission, $25 AGA Member/Student.

The event is inspired by one of the AGA’s featured exhibits, The Automatiste Revolution: Montreal 1941-1960. This exhibit closes on Sunday, October 14, so be sure to go and view this stunning exhibit – which features over 60 pieces of artwork from the modernist, avant-garde Automatiste movement in Canada – if you haven’t already. $12.50 Adult; $8.50 Senior/Student; Children under 6 are Free; $26.50 Family. Hot Entertainment:

Carly Rae Jepsen (Oct 14, 2 pm): Before she opens for the one they call “The Biebs” at Rexall Place on Monday, Carly Rae Jepsen will be taking the stage at West Edmonton Mall for a FREE live acoustic performance on Sunday, October 14 at 2 pm. Jepsen’s catchy song “Call Me Maybe” has become an international hit, becoming an unofficial summer anthem and spawning hundreds of (flattering) parodies. There’s no “maybe” about it – this will be an exciting, energetic performance! A huge crowd is expected for the show, so be sure to arrive early! Hot Attraction:

Edmonton Woman’s Show (Oct 13 9 am – 5 pm, Oct 14 11 am – 5 pm): Shop an exclusive variety of Pandora jewellery, learn wardrobe tips from fashion guru John Chwyl, sip on wine in the Wine Lounge, take in some live entertainment, and browse a selection of fashion, beauty, and home decor products and services. On Saturday, at 1:30 pm, celebrity guest Star Jones (NBC’s Today Show and Today’s Professionals)  will entertain crowds with her fun, humorous take on topics like sociology, politics, pop culture, and law. $10 General Admission; $8 Student/Senior; Children under 12 are Free. The Briefing Room is the newest shopping spot to grace Whyte Avenue and provides a unique destination shopping experience for men. This specialty shop stocks a large selection of underwear, lounge wear, skin care products, and grooming accessories in brands otherwise unavailable in Edmonton. This store seems like the cool, older brother of Victoria’s Secret. Once you check out the variety of patterns, fabrics, and styles available at this trendy shop, you’ll never want to buy a boring 3-pack of plain white briefs again!
