Come Together: Paul McCartney Events in Edmonton

On November 28 and 29, Paul McCartney will become a part of Edmonton’s history with two sold-out shows at Rexall Place. Whether you were able to snag tickets to the show or not, fans of this legendary Beatle can “come together” and participate in some fun events happening around the city from November 26 – 29.

Walk Across Abbey Road
Where: 102A Avenue (Downtown)
When: November 26 – 29
About: The iconic London roadway featured on the cover of The Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road is being re-created here in Edmonton! In celebration of McCartney’s visit, 102A Avenue is being re-named “Abbey Road” for one week – complete with appropriate signage – and temporary paint has been used to re-create the look of the most famous crosswalk in pop culture history. Silhouette cutouts of the Fab Four in their iconic poses have been placed along the crosswalk – re-created in front of the Art Gallery of Alberta in Winston Churchill Square – for fans to pose next to for an Instagram-worthy moment.

Beatles’ Musical Tribute
Where: City Hall and Churchill Square
When: November 26 – 29
About: Stroll around City Hall to view British-themed decor, and take a walk through Churchill Square while listening to a medley of music composed by Paul McCartney. Every day around noon, a local pianist will perform Beatles music from the Friendship Tower in the square.

British Beer and Scotch Tasting
Where: Three Bananas Cafe (9918-102 Ave.)
When: Tuesday, November 27; 4 pm – 7 pm
About: Sample a variety of British beers and scotches (for a fee) while enjoying live entertainment. After the tasting, free horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered to take guests around the Square.

Beatles’ Film Festival
Where: City Room, City Hall
When: November 27; 7 pm – 10:45 pm
About: Enjoy a complimentary showing of The Beatles’ iconic film A Hard Days Night, followed by a screening of Paul McCartney’s brand-new album documentary Live Kisses. Free popcorn will be served to complete the moviegoing experience.

Edmonton’s Celebration of Paul McCartney
Where: City Room, City Hall
When: Wednesday, November 28; 11:30 am – 12:45 pm
About: Get pumped for this evening’s concert with Edmonton’s ultimate Beatlemania experience. Roving performers will provide laughs and entertainment, Mayor Stephen Mandel will deliver an official proclamation in honour of McCartney’s first visit to Edmonton, and local Beatles cover band Pepperland will perform a medley of Beatles tunes.

British Invasion
Where: Whyte Ave Retailers
When: November 26 – 29
About: Several shops along Whyte Ave. are featuring British-themed memorabilia and merchandise throughout the week. Blackbyrd Myoozik (10442-82 Ave.) has all of their Beatles’ vinyl records on sale, plus they carry an extensive collection of Beatles’ reissues, and box sets. Sound Connection (10016-82 Ave.) has a selection of their British music (vinyl and CD’s)  on sale. Wish List Gifts (10464-82 Ave.) has some accessories adorned with the Union Jack flag that are perfect to accessorize your concert-going outfit with. Participation will vary by retailer, so be sure to stop in at some of the shops and see what they have to offer.
