Wonder Women: Booty Call

It’s amazing how heavy a purse filled with just a gal’s “necessities” can be. We all complain, but Elizabeth Ann LeGear decided to redistribute the load. Knee-high boots had always been a staple of her wardrobe, and she became accustomed to stuffing her things inside them. Inconveniently and uncomfortably, her stuff always fell to the bottom. This led to an entrepreneurial epiphany: boots with pockets.

“I searched for a long time, first on Google and then on the patent database,” says LeGear. “The whole time I was thinking ‘Please no, please no,’ because it was such a cool idea.” To her shock and relief, no such thing existed. The 27-year-old quickly patented the concept and launched Elizabeth Anne Shoes. Her feature product, Purse n’ Boots, is a black, high-heeled, almond-toed boot made of soft Napa leather. Promoted as the world’s first purse for your feet, its hidden interior pockets are slim enough to carry a smart phone, credit cards, cash, keys and small personal items without looking bulky. The boots are available at All Things Good and Beautiful in Inglewood, 1312 – 9 Ave SE. – Allison Onyett
