Boo! It’s that scary time of year again when children ring your doorbell incessantly demanding candy and the young and young-at-heart dress up in costumes designed for weather that’s twenty degrees warmer than reality. For the Family Boo-thusiasts
Don’t miss two of Calgary’s favourite annual events at the end of October for families. Ghoul’s Night Out at Heritage Park promises crafts, dancing, fortunetellers, games and more for kids aged three to nine. This is a ticketed event, so purchase passes in advance (annual passes are not valid). Boo In The Zoo is also not to be missed, with pumpkin bowling, a zombie walk and a haunted carousel. Also, you can trick or treat throughout the zoo!
For other trick-or-treating options, major shopping centres like North Hill Mall and Westbrook Mall gives kids the chance to gather their sugary treats in an indoor setting.
For the Party Demons
If your pirate eyeliner is on and your angel wings firmly attached, these events might be more your style this Halloween.
Craft Beer Market hosts the Witch Craft Halloween Event featuring costume prizes and the dreaded Guinness Black & Blood. If you’re feeling bold, take on the Fear Factor challenge at Ceili’s Halloween Howler, which also has prizes and a costume contest.
Can’t decide? Hook up with the 2011 Calgary Halloween Howler Club Crawl will take you by party bus to four different clubs to keep the party going.
For the Hardcore Halloweeners
For the true Halloween experience, don’t miss Screamfest 2011. Check out the creepy entertainment like contortionists and daredevils, plus Halloween carnival games, haunted houses, and the chance to experience being buried alive.
And finally, Eau Claire is hosting a dance mob to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Learn the dance moves here and look your zombified best in support of the Calgary Inter-faith Food Bank.
