This weekend calls for beautiful weather so get outdoors and take in some fantastic summertime traditions!
Friday 17 – Saturday 18 The Calgary International ReggaeFest runs Friday and Saturday at Shaw Millenium Park. Visitors can expect hot performances by Bryan Art, Cherine Anderson and Jermaine Cowan. Also enjoy Caribbean cuisine, beer garden and a youth area. Tickets are available at Calgary Co-op locations or by calling 403-355-5696.
Saturday 18 This year Globalfest celebrates a decade of spectacular fireworks displays from around the world. On Saturday night, Mexico displays its dazzling “Fiesta!” display led by designer Jorge Marquez. Musical accompaniment includes “Tequila” by the Cincinatti Pops and “Thunder” from Cirque du Soleil’s Totem performance. The festival runs until August 26.
Saturday 18 – Sunday 19 The fifth annual Spaghetti Western Festival celebrates alternative and traditional country and western music, 2 pm – 9 pm daily at Olympic Plaza. Admission is free. Hosted by local country-folk singer-songwriter Matt Masters, the festival features contemporary country and western musicians including Atomic Duo from Austin, Texas and Calgary’s own T. Buckley.
